A New High-Power Industrial Microwave Platform Built to Accelerate the Electrification of Industrial Processing
Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Ottawa, Ontario [February 3, 2026] AMTek (4amtek.com), a leading manufacturer of industrial microwave transmitters, systems, and service infrastructure, and Rivendell Technologies(rivendelltechnologies.com), a developer of next-generation high-power microwave control and delivery architecture, today announced a signed partnership and the launch of the AxRT Series. A new co-developed high-power microwave platform designed to scale industrial microwave processing with a practical pathway to broad adoption.

This collaboration marks a major milestone for industrial microwave adoption. Rivendell’s technology, built specifically to enable the electrification of industrial processes at scale and accelerate the widespread adoption of microwaves across the industrial realm. Now integrates with AMTek’s proven manufacturing capabilities, product quality, and deep expertise in microwave equipment production. Together, the companies are delivering an industrial platform purpose-built that overcomes the traditional adoption hurdles of scale, deployment speed, and cost.
“At Rivendell, we built our technology to solve the single biggest constraint holding microwave electrification back. Scalable, controllable high-power delivery that industry can deploy with confidence and see meaningful ROI,” said Casey Barber, CEO of Rivendell Technologies. “Partnering with AMTek is the perfect match: they bring unrivaled product quality, credibility and decades of expertise in microwave system and component manufacturing. Together, we can move faster, build better, and unlock real-world adoption in sectors that have been waiting for a practical plug-in-play high-power solution. Our goal is to tackle the problems facing today's industrial supply chains at scale. We do that by providing solutions that enable higher throughput volumes while reducing input costs.”
“AMTek has always focused on building the most reliable industrial microwave processing equipment in the industry,” said Ross Vargason, President at AMTek. “The AxRT Series expands what’s possible by pairing AMTek’s manufacturing backbone with Rivendell’s proven power combining and control technology. This partnership strengthens our offering for customers who want to scale microwave power in demanding industrial environments, with a clear product pathway and coordinated support.”
Introducing the AxRT Series: A Structured High-Power Product Line
The AxRT Series is a co-branded product family designed to scale magnetron microwave power in continuous-duty industrial environments, starting at 200 kW and expanding through 400 kW and 800 kW class systems, all through a single waveguide.
Planned offerings include:
AxRT 200 (200 kW)
AxRT 400 (400 kW)
AxRT 800 (800 kW)
AxRT systems are built on AMTek’s industrial transmitter cabinets and inventory/service ecosystem, supporting uptime-sensitive operations and long-term serviceability.

The Technical Breakthrough: Solid-State Class Control, Magnetron Class Efficiency
Across industrial markets, solid-state RF sources are often positioned as the only path to higher power and better control. Particularly, frequency agility, phase coordination, and precise power control. However, at high power, solid-state architectures require scaling through many lower-power amplifier modules. Introducing complexity, combining loss, and a growing thermal load that must be removed through cooling infrastructure. This results in higher capital and operating costs that make widespread RF adoption at industrial scale a financial non-starter.
AxRT is designed to change the economics of that tradeoff by pairing magnetron-based power generation with frequency and phase control capabilities historically associated with solid-state systems. The reason the AxRT Series can scale power economically is that it is based on magnetrons, all while delivering a control layer that enables frequency, phase and power control previously only available to solid-state. As solid-state systems scale, operating costs increase due to inefficiencies in power delivery and rising cooling requirements. Magnetron systems already outperform solid-state systems on capital cost, and with Rivendell’s power architecture bringing frequency and phase control to magnetrons, the AxRT Series is positioned to offer the controllability associated with solid-state systems while retaining meaningful magnetron advantages in power delivery efficiency and cooling burden. The AxRT Series is not a concept, but a product-ready solution to solve industrial problems now.
Industrial microwave processing has long offered major advantages. Volumetric heating, faster thermal response, improved throughput, and new process pathways. However, widespread adoption has been constrained by the difficulty of scaling RF power in a way that is cost-efficient, industrially reliable, serviceable, and financially practical to operate at large sites.
The AxRT partnership is designed to remove that bottleneck by pairing a high-power scaling architecture with a manufacturing and support organization that is already built for real industrial requirements. AMTek’s team includes more than 55 professionals performing functions across the production of high-power systems, with capabilities to design, fabricate, and assemble components, full systems, and support servicing globally after installation. AMTeks footprint expands beyond North America and is represented by distributors on six continents, supporting industrial customers with deployment reach and localized support pathways.
This is particularly relevant as industrial markets accelerate electrification efforts to reduce reliance on legacy hydrocarbon thermal systems, improve controllability, and increase efficiency across processing steps. The AxRT Series is positioned to support applications where high-power microwaves can drive meaningful economic and environmental outcomes, including environmental processing and remediation, energy and advanced thermal conversion, mining and materials processing, critical mineral refining, and industrial heating and drying.
